How To Apply for your Provisional Driving Licence.

In order to learn to drive legally, you will need a Provisional Driving Licence – application may be by post or online. You can apply for your Provisional Licence as early as 3 months before your 17th birthday (16 years and 9 months). If you are receiving PIP (Personal Independence Payment) you may apply for it at 15 years and 9 months. This means you can learn to drive as early as age 16. Applying for your Provisional Driving Licence online?

To apply for your Provisional Licence online, go to the DVLA website or clink on the link provided below, where you will need to register and log in to start the process. Website: https://www.gov.uk/apply-first-provisional-driving-licence You will need an identity document or a valid UK biometric passport, addresses where you have lived over the last 3 years, and your National Insurance number if you know it. Your Provisional Licence will cost £34 if you apply for it online, and should arrive within a week.

Applying for your Provisional Driving Licence by post ?

To order by post, fill out a D1 form available at certain post offices, or on the DVLA website. You will need to include an identity document unless you have a valid UK biometric passport, a colour passport-style photograph, a cheque or postal order of £43 payable to DVLA. Do NOT send cash. If all your documents are from the UK, send your application to: DVLA Swansea SA99 1AD If your documents do not originate from the UK, send your application to: DVLA Swansea SA99 1AF Application by post will cost £43 and your Provisional Licence should arrive within 3 weeks.
